How to Read a Credit Report - Number Code
This coincides with the numbered Credit Report.
- Person ordering the report, reference number (report number) and Fannie Mae reference number (optional).
- Date report was requested and completed with the your client number.
- Report type (number of bureaus used to create report), repositories accessed and ECOA type (Equal Credit Opportunity Act public law)
- Borrower/Co-Borrower identification information including address, social security number, martial status, number of dependents and more.
- Bureau score.
- Bureau scoring model used and the factors used to generate the bureau score.
- Employment information on Borrower(s) including who verified the information and the date of verification.
- Account name and account number.
- Date account was last reported to the repositories.
- Date account was opened.
- Highest credit that was obtained against the account.
- Current balance owing on this account.
- Payment amount due monthly and account type ("R" for revolving, "I" for installment, "M" for mortgage, etc.).
- Current status on account.
- Historical status including months reviewed (how long account has been open), number of times past due and past due amount.
- Bureau source segment identifiers.
- Term of loan (30 year mortgage = 360 months).
- Closed Trades - Narratives from the bureaus.
- Late date information if applicable.
- Collection information with collection company name, amount owed and who the original creditor is.
- Public record information if provided.
- Additional employment information.
- Additional address information
- Not shown in this report - this section is Inquiries in the past 24 months (see "view sample" on main products page for an example of this section).
- Creditor information list (provided is the address and phone numbers to each of the creditors).
- Sources of information including bureau, social security and address information.
- Alerts and validations. This is an important field to learn if there are any problems with the file such as if the borrower is deceased, incorrect social security number, etc.

- Bureau addresses and phone numbers.
